B-KINETIC Phase 1 at European University Cyprus focused on strengthening entrepreneurship, innovation capacity, and knowledge transfer through a combination of practical training, collaborative activities, and institutional support. By connecting education with real-world innovation challenges, the initiative aimed to help students, academics, and staff develop the skills and mindset required in today’s rapidly evolving entrepreneurial and digital landscape.
Throughout Phase 1, European University Cyprus implemented a series of targeted activities designed to promote startup culture, innovation readiness, and cross-sector collaboration. These included specialised lectures on innovation management, business models, startup finance, and entrepreneurial thinking, offering participants a stronger understanding of how ideas can evolve into sustainable business concepts.
Alongside the theoretical component, the project placed strong emphasis on hands-on learning experiences. Interactive workshops such as Pitch Lab and NextGen Trainers gave participants the opportunity to strengthen practical skills related to communication, idea validation, pitching, and innovation development. One of the key highlights was the organisation of a 3-day Innovation Hackathon, where students worked on real-world challenges in a fast-paced and collaborative environment that encouraged problem-solving, teamwork, and creative thinking.

The initiative also focused on inclusive entrepreneurship by involving students, academic staff, and non-academic personnel in innovation-related activities. This multidisciplinary participation helped create a more connected innovation ecosystem within the university environment, while encouraging knowledge exchange between different groups and expertise areas.
At the same time, B-KINETIC supported the professional development of university staff through training activities focused on innovation processes, entrepreneurial education, and knowledge valorisation. Staff exchange activities among consortium partners also played an important role in strengthening international collaboration, sharing best practices, and enhancing institutional learning across the partnership. Beyond the transfer of technical knowledge, these exchanges created opportunities for deeper collaboration between institutions, allowing participants to better understand different innovation ecosystems, educational approaches, and entrepreneurial cultures across Europe.
One of the most important outcomes of Phase 1 was the creation of an environment where innovation became something tangible and approachable rather than purely theoretical. Participants were encouraged not only to learn about entrepreneurship, but to actively experience it through collaboration, experimentation, and real-world application. From workshops and mentoring sessions to hackathons and cross-institutional exchanges, the activities helped foster a mindset built around creativity, adaptability, and problem-solving, all skills that are increasingly essential in today’s digital and green transition.
The experience also demonstrated the importance of combining education with practical implementation and institutional support. When students, educators, researchers, and innovation stakeholders work together within the same ecosystem, ideas develop more organically and innovation becomes more sustainable in the long term. This collaborative approach is at the core of B-KINETIC’s vision for strengthening entrepreneurial capacity within Higher Education Institutions.

As the project moves into Phase 2, the foundations established during the first phase provide strong momentum for future activities focused on startup creation, industry collaboration, innovation acceleration, and knowledge valorisation. The lessons learned, partnerships built, and skills developed during Phase 1 will continue shaping the next steps of the initiative, contributing to a stronger and more innovation-driven higher education landscape across Europe.
